Summary:
An eagle caught in leghold trap was released by the trapper who thought the bird was “stunned”. The bird was found in the same location the next day and in obvious need of veterinarian care so the trapper captured the bird and turned him in. The eagle’s foot was severely infected and tendons were severed to the bone. Based on injuries, veterinarian estimated the bird had been in the trap 24-36 hours. The bird died 4 days later.
