A family dog was out geocaching with his family when he was caught in a leg-hold trap. It took 2 adults to release the dog from the trap. The dog sustained minor injuries and had trouble walking for a few days.

Rutland, VT

The guardian of a dog killed by a trap has sued the trapper for emotional distress. The court is to set damages after the trapper who failed to respond. The dog named Doc stepped into a conibear trap while he was being walked by the guardian’s grandmother at a park in 2013. Doc died while attempts were made to free him.

A dog playing near a pond was killed by a conibear trap set out for beavers. Beaver trapping season had already ended and there were no signs posted.

Charlotte, NC

A family walking through a park discovered a beaver and a turtle killed in traps set by the city. The traps were set for the beaver due to city officials designating it as a nuisance, but the turtle, the largest and most beloved by park goers, was an unintended catch. The trap slammed the turtles body so hard that the shell was cracked and the head almost decapitated. Residents are upset.
