New Hampshire Fish and Game is investigating an illegally set animal trap that killed a woman’s dog on a well-used trail in Auburn Wednesday night. A golden retriever named Andrew died when it became ensnared in a connibear trap. The trail was thought to be safe even during hunting season given the number of walkers and bikers who frequent it.

A dog being walked on a neighbor’s property was caught in a snare trap and killed. Despite her best efforts, the woman could not free her dog.

A Labrador retriever got caught in an illegally placed mink trap and suffered mangled toes. A 59-year old Florence man has pleaded guilty to trapping violations after a dog was injured when it was caught in a trap at a fishing access site. He was fined $535, pay restitution, and lost his trapping privileges for 3 years.

A young black lab was caught in a snare by her snout. The snare was so tight around her snout it prevented the dog from eating or drinking and sliced up the dog’s nose and cut deep into her upper palate. The wire was embedded in the dog’s tongue and her teeth were worn down from trying to break free from the trap. When the dog was found, infection was setting in and she was in shock. A rescue group took custody of the dog now named Trea. Vets also found evidence that Trea had a broken front right paw sustained by a previous trap some months ago.

A dog was found with a mangled paw on the side of the street. Rescuers were able to trap it and upon being checked out by a vet, it was found that the dog was probably caught in a trap and was set loose by someone. The bones on his paw were all broken with a small amount of soft tissue attaching his foot. The dog was treated and is in the care of a local rescue group.

An eagle was found caught in leg-hold trap and set free. The eagle had an injury to its talon, but flew off before further assessment could be done. Authorities are investigating who is responsible for setting the trap.

A lynx was caught in a leg-hold trap set legally to capture coyotes. The trapper told officials that he did not observe any injury to the lynx and that it had run off. The lynx had two yellow ear tags, one in each ear.

A dog was caught in a leg-hold trap on a neighbor’s property. The man hurt his hand freeing his dog. The neighbor was not found liable as the dog was considered to be running at large.

A 2-year old dachshund-Chihuahua mix, Schatzie,was killed by a conibear trap while being walked by a 6-year old girl. The trap was on public land.

A 7-year old Brittany Spaniel named Joe was caught in a conibear trap while out pheasant hunting. The dog stopped breathing and lost consciousness, but as able to recover shortly after being released from the trap.
