A resident at a mobile home park turned a 4-foot python loose intending to kill it with a lawnmower because they couldn’t afford to feed the animal. The snake escaped and has not been seen since.

Several Asian Water Buffalo roamed U.S. 41 in south Punta Gorda after someone cut a fence. Deputies were eventually able to contain the animals in a nearby field.

A handler named Melissa Dub at the Exotic Feline Rescue Center was mauled by an 18-year old tiger named Raja while she was cleaning his cage. The handler was listed in critical condition. The USDA is investigating the incident.

A monkey briefly escaped from teh Chestnut Animal Clinic where it was being boarded. The officer who tried to corral the animal back into the clinic was bitten on the thumb and had to receive a tetanus shot before the monkey was successfully captured.
