A 10-foot python ws found inside of a hollow log after reports were received for 2 weeks. The snake is believed to have been abaondoned.

A classroom pet snake at a high school was found nearly a week after he escaped from his pen.

A 10-foot long, 36-pound North American python (rock python) attacked and killed a family’s 60 pound huskey in Southwest Miami-Dade County. The attack occurred on August 30 but was not reported to FL Fish and Wildlife until September 2, which did not release information to the public until today.

For the second time in a week, an animal has died of unknown causes at this zoo. Aquila, a 21-year old polar bear was found dead in his off-exhibit holding quarters of a ruptured stomach.

A 400-pound lion was found wandering a central Ohio neighborhood. Someone apparently broke the cage lock let the animal out. The owner was able to collect the lion.

Jewell, a 62-year-old Asian elephant, was euthanized after she lay down and was too weak to get back up. She later tested positive for tuberculosis.

Huyanh Ralph Tran, a Mississippi State University senior veterinary student, was arrested by the Starkville Police Department for dealing exotic birds without the proper license after the discovery of an exotic animal breeding facility in his home. The exotic animals found at the residence include dozens of African cats, rare birds, rare frogs, and exotic snakes. They were removed from the home.

Nkosi, a 21-year old male gorilla died of unknown causes at the North Carolina Zoo.

A woman was bitten by a black rhinoceros at the Denver Zoo while participating in the the rhino encounter program.

A 4-foot python escaped from it’s enclosure and was found on a neighbors porch. It is illegal to own a python in the city and the owner was fined $400.
