Currituck County, NC

Four capuchin monkeys escaped their enclosure from a residence and later attacked a citizen. The person bitten was taken to the hospital for treatment. Three of the monkeys were caught and one was shot dead.

Police received a call about a loose animal that turned out to be a coatimundi. Officials are still trying to find where the coatimundi came from. It is believed to be a former pet. The animal was taken to the Memphis Animal Shelter.

FL wildlife officials broke up a black-market monkey sales ring. Officials say the operation had been running for seven years. The business allegedly wsa selling monkeys without a license and selling to people without proper training and knowledge to care for them. The monkeys were seized.

A woman from MO met with a man in a CO parking lot intending to illegally sell a pet black cap Capuchin monkey to a man. The man pepper sprayed her and took off with the monkey, which is illegal to own in the state of CO.

A couple was arrested after more than 100 snakes, along with a Gila monster, a monitor lizard and iguanas – among others – were found in containers and roaming free throughout their home. The two are owners of The Boa Store, an online store that sells snakes. The face child endangering charges and charges violating regulations on ownership and sale of exotic animals.

A zookeeper was killed by an elephant at the Dickerson Park Zoo. The man was coaxing the female elephant named Patience with a guide when she she suddenly lunged forward, knocking him down in a chute killing him.

The Maryland Zoo reported that a female lion named Bada has died just days after giving birth to twins. After the live births, veterinarians found two stillborn cubs in the mother.
