A Siberian lynx attacked a woman who was taking care of the animals while the owner was away. The woman sustained injuries to her head and was bleeding heavily when police arrived. Animals from this home have broken out before this incident. The owner of the cat has 9 cats, including 4 Syberian lynxes and 4 other cats of comparable size and is permitted to breed them per the DNR.

A newborn baby gorilla died 5 days after being born. The baby was the first gorilla baby born in 55 years at the Como Zoo.

After escaping it’s enclosure from that LA Zoo, a big horn sheep was hit by a car and later died after being tranquilized by zoo officials. A necropsy will be performed to ascertain the cause of death.

A baby gorilla named Kabibe was crushed by a hydraulic door and died at the San Francisco Zoo.

A woman was attacked by a wildebeest at a zoo in front of school children. The woman was a staff member of the zoo and is recovering in a hospital.

A female tiger kept in unsanitary and inadequate conditions in a private home was rescued by Turpentine Creek Wildlife Refuge. The 400-pound tiger was the last of a group of tigers living at a home near Elkins. The tigers had been bred there but over time had either died or been relocated.

A pet bobcat named Rocky that had repeatedly escaped his enclosure has been recaptured after his latest escape from his guardian’s home on Oct. 21. The bobcat was taken to a zoo and the guardian fined.

A Tasmanian devil named Jasper was killed at the BioPark Zoo when someone threw a chunk of asphalt at its head. The case is under investigation.

A 3-year-old child fell into the jaguar exhibit. Two cats attacked him, and zoo staff tried to use fire extinguishers to keep the cats away. The child was retrieved and taken to the hospital, where he was treated for extensive scalp lacerations, a depressed skull fracture, and minor puncture wounds.
