A worker unintentionally left a gate open to an off-limit area which allowed some patrons to the zoo to get close to the zoo’s wolf pack. While the mother was busy snapping pictures, her 4-year old son approached the enclosure and stuck his finger through the chain link fence and was bitten by one of the wolves. Because the mother opted not to have her son treated for rabies as a precaution, the wolf had to be euthanized.

A Komodo Dragon bit a caretaker at the Omaha Zoo. The caretaker was taken to the hospital and is in critical condition.

An emu was found running loose in traffic on a highway in GA and was causing a traffic jam. The bird had escaped from a private owner, but was corralled and captured.

The mother kangaroo was injured in the process of having her baby snatched. Officials have stated that the babies will not survive for long without expert care.

A man fishing caught a piranha in Lake Bentonville. The fish is believed to have been turned loose by a former pet owner.

The Oklahoma City Zoo went into lockdown mode when a tiger escaped her enclosure. The tiger was later tranquilized and caught.

A pet zebra bit off a piece of a man’s nipple. The guardian did not have the proper permit and was ordered to re-home the zebra within 30 days. The woman has had the zebra for over 10 years and this was the first incident involving the animal.

An iconic polar bear named Magnet was euthanized after his health took a decline possibly from kidney disease.
