A pet store owner was attacked by a 15-foot long, 100 pound python while cleaning its cage. The snake wrapped around the man’s body, neck and face and the man had stopped breathing. Police were able to get the snake off the man and revive him. The store owner is being hospitalized.

A 4-year old baby elephant named Malee died unexpectedly at the Oklahoma City Zoo. The cause of death was a type of herpes infection particularly deadly to young elephants.

Utilitiy workers discovered a 8 1/2 foot snake weighing 35-45 pounds when they accidentally killed it while clearing a sewer line. The snake is believed to be someone’s pet.

A 9-foot, 40 pound pet snake named Sophie escaped her cage and escaped out a window. Neighbors were on alert to keep their kids and animals indoors.

A police officer was called to pry a python off of a woman’s arm after the 5-foot pet python sank its teeth into her.

A pet monkey named Zeke escaped and ran around a Florida neighborhood, eating people’s mail and tearing the molding off a police car’s roof.

Police arrived after getting a concerned call were able to distract Zeke with a bottle of water until his owner came and fetched him.

Zeke previously escaped in September, 2012.

Several people from the DeBary neighborhood in Florida have reported sightings of a monkey on the loose. Authorities have no been able to confirm.

Police are trying to track down the owner of an emu that has been spotted wandering around town. The emu has not been caught.

MJ, a 35-year-old orangutan, died at the Milwaukee County Zoo of unknown causes.

A man found a 3-foot alligator in his koi pond believed to be someone’s escaped pet. The animal was taken to a local zoo and the guardian is being sought. It is illegal to own an alligator in MD.
