A mountain lion named P-22 is suspected of killing a 14-year-old koala in an outdoor enclosure at the Los Angeles Zoo. Zoo surveillance cameras showed P-22 around the zoo the night of the death.

A 10-month-old female warthog named Makena died of liver failure. It was determined that her liver was poisoned by a plant toxin, but the source – whether it was in food or in a plant eaten inside the warthog enclosure – is not known, according to zoo officials.

Granger, a 10-year-old male cheetah, was euthanized due to a declining quality of life. He suffered from renal and pancreatic disease.

Oklahoma Zoo medical records indicate that Bamboo, a female elephant transferred from Seattle’s Woodland Park Zoo, had a tail wound with exposed soft tissue and tendon. The tail was bitten during an altercation with another female elephant in her enclosure. They have had multiple aggressive incidents.

Police arrived at a derelict house after shots were fired, and found a man, guns, and a 6-foot-long python inside. Animal control officers removed the snake from the premises.

More than 20 snakes were stolen from the Tropix Reptiles and Furry Friends & Supply store. Animals stolen include pythons, boa constrictors, rabbits and mice.

An infant Angolan colobus monkey died when the mother, Nuru, dropped him/her. Zookeepers believe it was accidental.

A person found a pet carrier containing a young capuchin monkey dumped at a rest stop by the side of a highway. The monkey was missing all his teeth and also a good portion of his fur.

He was transported to Jungle Friends Primate Sanctuary, a Florida organization.

A male ring-tailed lemur, allegedly kept as an illegal pet, was found in a Turlock backyard. It found a temporary home at the Sacramento Zoo. Zookeepers say he doesn’t appear to know how to socialize with other lemurs.

Pharaoh, a 15-8-year-old lion, died. A photo allegedly taken right before his death showed him to be emaciated.
