A “pet” macaque monkey bit his possessor and a 9-year-old boy, and scratched a firefighter who tried to help.

Tory and Mary, two elephants performing with the Shrine Circus, bolted out of the circus tent during the show, scattering crowds. Mary hiked two miles through town and was recaptured at the University of Wisconsin-Stout campus when trucks blocked her route. A child was injured, and the elephants damaged a door at the park and caused $600 in damages to a city truck. The Shriners had contracted with George Carden Circus for the event.

A 350-pound African lion ripped the arm off a 21-year-old Busch Gardens zookeeper while she was giving her family a private tour. The injury was not the first for Busch, which housed hippos, hyenas, baboons, and crocodiles. In 1989, an animal keeper was crushed to death by a 2-ton elephant. In 1993, a rattlesnake bit a zookeeper, who survived. And in 1999, a woman claimed that a Clydesdale horse bit off the tip of her finger.

A tiger refused to return to the cage following a performance of Circus Gatti during the Ben Ali Shrine Circus, prompting the evacuation of spectators from the arena. Both Sacramento police and SWAT teams are called and dispatched to sthe cene. The tiger was eventually tranquilized and returned to the cage.

Two wolf hybrids attacked two neighbors’ dogs and bit a woman on the chin while she was attempting to break up the fight. The same wolf hybrids were involved in a similar incident in 1999.
