December 1, 2005 Foley, AL A healthy 2-year-old Bengal tiger at the Kids Country Zoo was euthanized and stuffed and mounted for display at the zoo. Several individuals offered to take the tiger rather than see it put down, including Tiger Haven in Tennessee, Alabama Gulf Coast Zoo, and a facility in Texas, but the zoo’s owner said the tiger was dangerous and opted to administer a lethal injection of medication instead. November 15, 2005 Greenwich, NY Tahan, a 7-year-old tiger at Ashville Game Farm and Exotic Zoo, escaped through the top of her pen after pushing free a section of the chain fence that was nailed across top of her cage. November 8, 2005 Miami, FL Kutosha, a 7-year-old chimpanzee at the Miami Metrozoo, died while en route to Busch Gardens in Tampa. The Metrozoo has been accused of not adopting lifelong care policy and was also involved in another controversy involving Edith, chimpanzee at Metrozoo, until her ownership changed and she ended up in deplorable conditions in Texas. October 24, 2005 Pontotoc, MS A kinkajou escaped and attacked an 82-year-old woman. The woman was sweeping her porch when the kinkajou jumped on her and wrapped his tail around her arm. The woman received 20 stitches as a result of being attacked and repeatedly bitten by the animal. The woman’s son captured the animal and as a result was bitten as well. Other
