The Toronto Zoo’s Tessa, just shy of arriving at her 40th birthday, was accidently knocked off her feet by her companion elephants during a routine feeding time. Efforts to raise her with heavy equipment failed and she died the same day.

An employee of Charmingfare Farm suffered a monkey bite trying to coax a macaque back into his cage. The macaque had been quarantined for 10 days by the state veterinarian. The employee received treatment and was listed in good condition.

A man reported seeing a monkey near his parked car. His wife scooped up some monkey droppings to prove that it was a monkey they saw. Police investigated.

A 10-year-old bobcat who had escaped her possessor temporarily was located about a half mile from her home and recaptured. The possessor did not want to be identified but had the necessary permits.

Two 10-year-old boys reported seeing a lemur in their backyard earlier this month. The boys were eating a picnic lunch when they heard noises. The lemur jumped out of the tree and started running.

An elementary school student was attacked when she walked into a caged area where a “pet” mountain lion was kept. The child’s injuries are not serious. Police were investigating to see if charges should be brought against possessor.
