A retired therapy monkey escaped through a doggie door was caught 3 days later. The monkey is a 5-year old greenback grivet and was in the process of being moved to a new home.

An 80-year old man is in fair condition after his 6-foot tall, 200-pound kangaroo attacked him for 15 minutes at an exotic-animal farm in Ohio. The man was taken to a hospital. The owners plan to euthanize the kangaroo.

A 16-year-old girl was playing with her aunt’s 6-week-old kinkajou when the animal bit her hand. She felt ill within 24 hours with stomach pain and a fever, and was hospitalized for six days. Kinkajous carry a unique bacteria called Kingella potus.

Police are searching for an 8-foot boa constrictor that escaped from a resident’s home. All residents were warned to keep pets and small children under close supervision.

Acreage, FL

A 13-foot tiger reticulated python was seized from an Acreage man who turned out to have a small menagerie of exotic wildlife in his home. Other animals in the home included a ring-tailed lemur, a skunk and a kinkajou, for which he was given a warning for possession without a permit. The python was taken to the Busch wildlife Sanctuary.

A woman found hoarding several species of animals, including exotics and wildlife such as kinkajous and raccoons, was charged with neglect when her mentally disabled son was found unresponsive in the yard and later died. Authorities claim the house was so filthy the children’s feet were caked with feces and dirt. Plumbing and appliances such as the toilet, washer, dryer, ovenm, and 2 refrigerators did not work. Other animals found in the home included 109 cats, 3 dogs, and 39 cockatiels. The woman was charged with criminal neglect of a disabled child, a felony, as well as misdeameanors alleging cild endangerment, animal hoarding and cruel treatment.
