Asheville, NC

City animal control officers were called to a home after a monkey escaped and bit three neighbors while on the loose. When officers came to retrieve the monkey, they found marijuana, hash, mushrooms and ecstacy in the home and arrested Charles Bradley Winecoff. Winecoff was jailed briefly and released on bond. The monkey, a marmoset, will be euthanized to test for rabies.

Pittsburgh, PA

Several African Painted Dogs escaped their main exhibit area into an enclosed backup yard. Although zoo officials claim there was no danger to the visitors, they called a Code Red, ushering about 200 people on the zoo gorunds into buildings. The dogs were eventually coaxed back into their exhibit. The zoo is fixing the fence.

Largo, FL

Largo police detained a man and his monkey in a traffic stop. This is the same and monkey in the 4/5/2012 Pasco County incident where a man flagged down an officer to say that his monkey had run off when he stopped at a gas station. Officials had been looking for him for potential violation of wildlife possession laws. The man had a lengthy criminal history involving multiple arrests on DUI and driving with a suspended license. Officials also filed charges for failure to meet minimum caging requirements and failure to document a source of acquisition for wildlife. The monkey is being held in quarantine.

Police found an alligator and python while they were responding to a call about a domestic argument. They found the 2 and a half foot long gator splashing around in a plastic swimming pool in the basement and a python in a glass tank.

A small alligator was found near a pond in Bloomington, MN, where the reptiles are not native. Claims of a bigger one living in the pond were also asserted to officials.

Oviedo, FL

Two seperate reportings of monkey sightings have been reported. A woman called to report seeing the monkey in the downtown area, and a man called to report that he saw a monkey east of the downtown area. By the time the officers arrived, the monkey was gone. There had been no reports of anyone missing a monkey.

Mission, TX

Police received multiple calls from people who saw what appeared to be a large monkey about the size of a 13-year old boy. Investigators believe the animal has been roaming the city for a few days now. While they did not catch the animal, they believe they traced it to a man who was selling monkeys outside of the Mission jurisdiction.
