A large snake appears to be on the loose at the Jefferson County Fair after being spotted by several people. Sheriff’s department and animal control were called in but the snake could not be located. The snake is believed to be a python or boa constrictor.

Authorities captured a baby alligator roaming the streets of southwest Albuquerque. Residents spotted the alligator and called police. The alligator was turned over to Eastside Animal Shelter. Deputies said it’s likely someone’s pet.

A 10-foot Burmese python is on the loose after escaping from its enclosure from a residence in a trailer park.

Police are investigating a snake bite incident in which a 2-foot ball python entered an apartment and wrapped itself around the foot of a sleeping infant. The infant was taken to a hospital and released. The owner of the snake was identified and cited for not having a secure terrarium which enabled the snake to escape. The snake was turned over to the Coles County Animal Shelter.

Whitewater police reported a 6 and 1/2 foot red tail Colombian boa constrictor was on the loose in the city. The snake’s enclosure was damaged during a burglary. The police department and experienced professionals were working to locate the snake. Exotic animals, including boa constrictors, are prohibited in the City of Whitewater.

A snake escaped its enclosure in an apartment and could not be found.

Animal control officers in Forsyth County are trying to track a 16-year old monkey that escaped from a Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center primate-testing facility. Officials on the scene said that they are trying to trap, tranquilize, or kill the monkey (in that order). The monkey has been missing since June 29th.

A wolf-dog hybrid that had been on the loose since March of this year has been caught. The animal is believed to be a wolf-Alaskan malamute mix that was purchased in Florida as a pet and escaped when the owners were visiting Philadelphia. Wolf-dog hybrids are legal in Pennsylvania only with a special permit. The animal was taken tothe Wolf Sanctuary in Lancaster County.

At least six cases of salmonella in Clark County were linked to contact with reptiles kept as pets. According to SNHD (Southern Nevada Health District), all of the patients had contact with aquatic turtles that were kept as pets.

Drivers along Interstate 182 in Pasco, WA, were startled at the site of a loose pet kangaroo bounding in and out of traffic. Authorities say the unruly animal nearly caused two accidents, and incited a coordinated rescue effort rearly see in Easter Washington. The owner ended up tracking down the exotic animal and returned home to Franklin County where it is legl to have exotic pets with a license. It is not legal in the City of Pasco. The man also owned a zebra.
