Escaped Pet Tiger Killed by Police in Atlanta

A tiger was shot and killed by police in Atlanta after getting loose and attacking a dog. While the tiger’s owner has not yet been identified, authorities believe the tiger is “a victim of the exotic pet trade,” likely “born and bred for the purpose of resale,” as tigers “are not illegal to own with the proper permitting.” This tiger is the latest example of a long list of exotic pets who have been killed as a public safety measure after escaping from a life of captivity. Thankfully, at least, the dog will be okay.
