Zimbabwe to Dehorn Rhinos; Skepticism Grows

In an attempt to deter rhino poaching, Zimbabwe will remove the horns from all rhinos living in its national parks. However, Born Free USA CEO Adam M. Roberts is concerned because the horns will be kept by Zimbabwe’s government: “Keeping the removed horns in a government stockpile in Zimbabwe is like leaving confiscated cocaine with a drug dealer; the corrupt Zimbabwean government will push to sell their stockpiles when the time is right, just as they have with elephant ivory in the past two decades.”
