Death Count Rises at Chinese Wildlife Park

in Animal News on July 27, 2016

A woman visiting Badaling Wildlife World in Beijing, China—which allows visitors to drive through an exhibit to view captive tigers—was killed over the weekend after she tried to save her daughter from a tiger attack. Her daughter sustained severe injuries. And, this isn’t the first time a human has been injured or killed at this park. “We are so often exposed to a sanitized vision of wild animals, viewing them through glass and bars as they languish in captivity, that it seems we are forgetting that they are unpredictable, powerful, and inherently dangerous,” said Kate Dylewsky of Born Free USA.
