H.F. 117 to Prohibit Hunting and Trapping of Cougars

Bill Description:
This bill prohibits the wounding, killing, trapping, capturing, or collecting of cougars.[teaserbreak]

The following circumstances are exempt from this prohibition:
• An action to protect private property from damage. The action may be conducted by the department of natural resources, including a wild animal depredation biologist, or by an agricultural producer suffering financial losses from the destruction of livestock
• A person reasonably acting to protect a person from injury or death caused by a cougar.
