SB 470 Protects Pregnant Pigs [2005]

in Maryland on October 17, 2005

Update: Sadly, this bill did not complete the legislative process prior to adjournment.

Bill Description: This bill would outlaw cruel gestation crates — the confinement of pregnant pigs in small enclosures in a continual cycle of gestation. Violators would face a misdemeanor penalty. The provisions of the bill would be phased in and would take effect in their entirety in 2015.
