Georgia Is the Main Gateway for Shark Fin Exports in the U.S.

A new consumer investigation reveals that Georgia is at the center of the controversial shark fin trade. Although the U.S. imposes regulations on how shark fins can be collected—requiring, for instance, that sharks be killed first before their fins are removed—the legal trade can act as a cover for the illegal trade, as it is impossible to tell how a fin was taken once the fin enters the market.
