Elephant Tourism is Fueling Cruelty

Elephant tourism is fueling—and is fueled by—animal cruelty. Researchers assessed over 3,000 elephants connected with animal tourism in Thailand. They found that more than more than three quarters of these elephants were living in “severely cruel” conditions, bound with chains and forced to live in tiny, cramped, concrete enclosures.
