India Sentences Lion for Deadly Attacks

While investigating a rare cluster of deadly lion attacks, Indian authorities captured a pride of 17 lions and sent their dung to be tested for human remains. The results pointed to one adult male, who was given a life sentence—in the zoo. The evidence was not clear-cut for two other lions, who will be “given a fair trial and remain under close observation for some time.” The rest of the pride, presumed innocent, will be released to the forest.
