Born Free USA Petitions to List Pangolins Under the Endangered Species Act (ESA)

Born Free USA and other wildlife groups petitioned the U.S. government to designate seven species of pangolins as “Endangered” under the U.S. Endangered Species Act (ESA). If protection is granted under the ESA, the import and interstate sale of all pangolins and pangolin parts would be fundamentally prohibited in the U.S. Click here to read the full press release.

Pangolins are the most heavily illegally-traded mammal in the world. Humans are the pangolin’s top predator, and at least one pangolin is killed every hour in Asia.
