Zoologist Stephen Brend Brings his Animal Passions Home to Australia

in Animal News on January 21, 2015

Stephen Brend, zoologist and head of the Born Free Ethiopia animal sanctuary, is returning to Australia after almost 20 years living abroad. Brend has lived at the animal refuge on the outskirts of Ethiopia’s capital, Addis Ababa, for more than four years. He has rescued countless animals—lions, cheetahs, hyenas, monkeys, baboons, and various African wild cats—who were either orphaned, who faced the threat of poaching for the illegal wildlife trade, or who were to be sold as exotic pets in the Middle East and Asia.
