A.2410/S.2492: Removing Trapping Limits for Beavers [2014-15]

in New Jersey on February 12, 2014

This bill was known as A.3944/S.2665 during the 2012-13 session.

Bill description:
A.2410/S.2492 would remove the 200 permit statutory limit for trapping beavers.[teaserbreak]

Background:
It is already permissible to kill 1,000 beavers every year, which is half of New Jersey’s entire beaver population. An increase in legal trapping limits is unnecessary, and threatens to decimate the number of beavers in the state. Furthermore, trapping is an outdated and inhumane practice that causes needless suffering and distress to individual animals, while also killing members of threatened or endangered species. Take Action:
New Jersey residents, contact your state assembly member and senator and urge them to oppose the bill!
