Helping Zoo Elephants Go to a Far Better Home

Years of work by Born Free USA and other colleagues finally paid off in October 2011 when compassionate-minded Toronto City Council members agreed with our recommendation and voted to move the last three elephants from their woeful quarters at the Toronto Zoo to the PAWS sanctuary in Northern California. There, they will have far more space to roam, in an appropriately warm climate, and be in the company of other retired elephants who were once in zoos or circuses.
