Update: This bill was amended to delete its original general prohibition on trapping and, instead, require the Board of Wildlife Commissioners to adopt regulations (by or before Dec. 31, 2012) governing the trapping of fur-bearing animals in a residential area of a county whose population is 100,000 or more. The Nevada Legislature passed the bill and the governor signed it into law on June 3, 2011.
Bill description: This bill makes it unlawful for a person in a county whose population is 100,000 or more (currently Clark and Washoe counties) to trap a fur-bearing mammal using a trap, other than a box or cage trap, within 1,000 yards of an occupied dwelling, if the dwelling is located within an area of the county in which the discharge of firearms is prohibited by a county ordinance. The bill was amended to delete its original general prohibition on trapping and, instead, require the Board of Wildlife Commissioners to establish broad polices for trapping within 1,000 yards of certain occupied dwellings.
