National Bird Day was officially on January 5, but events in honor of our feathered friends take place all month long.

A list of events can be seen on the National Bird Day events page, but I want to call special attention to a few.

First, no matter where you are you can participate in the online charity auction “Fly Free.” Auction ends January 19 — so hurry up and bid!

If you are in the LA area this weekend, do not miss the opening reception for “Bird is the Word” at the wonderful Cactus Gallery in Eagle Rock.

A group art show to raise awareness of the plight of birds in captivity and the wild through art.
