A varied week on the weather front. On Sunday, the monkeys were enjoying a sunny afternoon as temperatures hit the 80s. By Monday morning, however, that had all changed. The sky was cloudy as the temperature dipped to around 50. It won’t be too long, however, before the temperatures rise again. The sun usually shines all year round here in South Texas.

The new utility building is coming along. The main structure is now up and Sanctuary staff are working to get the interior walls installed. Once this happens, we will move our daily food preparation operation into one of the units. The other units will be for storage, tools and supplies, and a workshop.
Joey and his new social group are doing well. Young Florence, the snow monkey who arrived earlier in the year, really enjoys a good game of tag. She decided this week to encourage Joey to join in and I watched as she ran up to him, grabbed his fur before running away as fast as she could. Never one to miss out on a little action, Joey hurtled after her, vocalizing loudly. This led to the others joining in, including Teddy, who still slightly wary of Joey, maintained a respectful distance but nonetheless still made a lot of noise. Joey has plenty of energy but not being as young or as nimble as Florence never quite caught up with her. This entices Florence to carry on with the game.
Until next week,
Sarah
