S. 2548 Pets Evacuation and Transportation Standards Act

Purpose: S. 2548 would ensure that following a major disaster or emergency, state and local emergency plans will take into account the needs of individuals with household companion animals and service animals. S. 2548 would require local and state emergency preparedness authorities to include in their evacuation plans how they will accommodate household companion animals and service animals in the event of a disaster. Local and state authorities must submit these plans to qualify for grants from the Federal Emergency Management Agency.
